About University of Sheffield

The University of Sheffield Medical School trains physicians through a five-year MBChB programme featuring an innovative problem-based learning curriculum. Clinical rotations take place at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust — encompassing the Northern General Hospital (1,100 beds, one of England's largest), Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Weston Park Cancer Centre, and Sheffield Children's Hospital. Sheffield Teaching Hospitals is one of the UK's largest and most research-active NHS trusts.

The university's medical research is particularly strong in stem cell biology (the Centre for Stem Cell Biology), hearing and vision (the RNID-funded Hearing Research Group), and cancer biology.
