About University of Leeds

The University of Leeds School of Medicine is one of the UK's largest, training over 250 medical students per year. The five-year MBChB programme provides clinical rotations at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust — encompassing the Leeds General Infirmary, St James's University Hospital (one of Europe's largest teaching hospitals by site area), Chapel Allerton Hospital, and community placements across Yorkshire. Leeds has particular strengths in oncology (the Leeds Cancer Centre at St James's is one of Europe's largest, treating over 5,500 new patients annually), cardiovascular research, and musculoskeletal medicine.

The NIHR Leeds Biomedical Research Centre focuses on musculoskeletal disease and cancer. Leeds is a dynamic northern city offering vibrant student life, excellent music and food scenes, and one of the UK's fastest-growing economies — all at significantly lower living costs than London or the southeast. For UK students, Leeds provides large-scale medical training with exceptional cancer and musculoskeletal research, in one of the UK's most popular student cities.
