About Medical University of Graz
The Medical University of Graz (Med Uni Graz) is one of Austria's four public medical universities and a leading centre for biomedical research in central Europe. Located in Styria's vibrant capital, the university trains approximately 4,000 students across its programmes. The six-year Human Medicine curriculum follows a vertically integrated model where basic science modules progressively merge with clinical teaching, culminating in a full clinical year at the University Hospital Graz (LKH-Univ.
Klinikum Graz), one of Europe's largest hospitals with 1,556 beds. Research flagships include the Gottfried Schatz Research Center for Cell Signaling, Metabolism and Aging, as well as strong groups in cardiovascular medicine, transplantation immunology, and digital health. Med Uni Graz is a pioneer in Austria's 'Biobank' initiative, housing one of Europe's largest biobanks for translational research.
Graz itself was designated a UNESCO City of Design and offers an exceptional quality of life — bike-friendly infrastructure, affordable rents, a thriving student community, and proximity to Alpine skiing and Mediterranean coastlines. For UK students, the degree leads to the Austrian Dr. med.
univ. title, is fully EU-recognised, and qualifies for GMC registration.
